Job Summary / Role Overview

The Head of Estimation will lead the end-to-end estimation and proposal function for BIM, digital construction, and digital twin projects across global markets. The role is accountable for delivering accurate, competitive, and risk-aware commercial proposals aligned with contractual frameworks, margin expectations, governance standards, and regional business strategies.

This is a strategic leadership role with ownership of pricing decisions, estimation governance, tools, and digital enablement to improve turnaround time, win quality, and margin realization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Estimation Strategy & Commercial Leadership

• Lead estimation and proposal strategy across global markets
• Oversee preparation and submission of proposals within timelines
• Optimize pricing strategy for competitiveness and profitability
• Support client negotiations and deal closures

2. Decision Authority & Bid Governance

• Approve pricing, margins, and bid decisions within governance limits
• Escalate high-risk bids with risk-reward insights
• Align estimation assumptions with delivery and leadership directives

3. Governance & Standardization

• Define and enforce estimation standards and methodologies
• Develop templates, cost models, and benchmarks
• Ensure transparency, consistency, and auditability

4. Margin Accountability & Post-Award Tracking

• Own bid margin performance
• Track estimation accuracy vs actual delivery
• Drive corrective actions via post-project reviews

5. Technology & Digital Enablement

• Drive adoption of AI, automation, and analytics in estimation
• Use historical data and productivity metrics
• Improve estimation efficiency through digital tools

6. Risk & Contractual Alignment

• Collaborate with contracts team for risk identification
• Align pricing with contract types and obligations
• Support risk mitigation strategies

7. Team Leadership

• Lead and scale multi-location estimation teams
• Mentor estimators, QS, and analysts
• Build capability, succession, and specialization

8. Regional & Business Alignment

• Align with BD and delivery teams across regions
• Ensure realistic pricing based on execution capabilities
• Act as commercial bridge across functions

9. Continuous Improvement

• Conduct win-loss and estimation accuracy analysis
• Maintain cost benchmarks and knowledge repository
• Strengthen future bids via structured feedback

Key Requirements

• 15+ years in estimation / commercial / pre-contract roles
• Experience in BIM / engineering / digital construction domain
• Strong understanding of cost drivers and pricing mechanisms
• Exposure to AI, automation, and digital tools
• Proven leadership and team management capability
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
