The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will define, lead, and execute the organization’s digital transformation strategy across the built environment. The role focuses on advancing Digital Design, Digital Construction, and Digital Twin technologies to transform how assets are designed, constructed, and operated. The CTO will also extend digital capabilities into infrastructure domains such as transportation, utilities, and smart city systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Vision & Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap for digital transformation in the built environment.
- Integrate Digital Design (BIM, computational design), Digital Construction (4D/5D), and Digital Twin ecosystems.
- Establish a data-centric lifecycle management approach across design, construction, and operations.
- Align digital strategies with global standards (ISO 19650, IFC, COBie) and sustainability frameworks (ESG, carbon tracking).
2. Innovation & Emerging Technology
- Lead R&D in AI/ML, IoT, AR/VR, and robotics for construction and asset performance.
- Develop Digital Twin platforms integrating BIM, IoT, and GIS.
- Implement AI-driven analytics for predictive insights and decision-making.
- Build partnerships with universities, startups, and tech vendors.
3. Digital Architecture & Data Ecosystem
- Design and implement a unified digital backbone integrating BIM, CDE, ERP, IoT, and analytics platforms.
- Ensure data governance, interoperability, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Oversee cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
- Integrate sustainability and performance data into digital systems.
4. Talent Development & Culture
- Build and lead multidisciplinary teams (BIM experts, developers, data engineers).
- Foster a digital-first, innovation-driven culture.
- Establish digital upskilling programs across teams.
- Create internal innovation labs for experimentation and prototyping.
5. Client & Ecosystem Collaboration
- Translate client needs into scalable digital solutions.
- Develop partnerships with technology providers (Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble, Esri, Microsoft).
- Engage with industry bodies and standards organizations.
- Drive digital transformation roadmaps for clients.
6. Operational Excellence
- Define KPIs for digital maturity, ROI, and efficiency.
- Optimize technology budgets and vendor ecosystems.
- Lead automation, workflow optimization, and predictive analytics initiatives.
- Ensure measurable business value from technology investments.
Experience
- 15+ years of leadership experience in AECO technology or digital transformation
- Proven experience in BIM strategy and Digital Twin implementation
- Experience in smart building technologies and infrastructure projects
